Important information on new fishing rules:

The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) has announced changes to saltwater and freshwater rules after extensive consultation with NSW recreational and commercial fishers. Bag and Size limits for recreational fishing are reviewed periodically to ensure a sustainable future for high quality recreational fishing in NSW. (their words not mine)

The changes started from September 3, 2007
To come in line with these new changes Oatley RSL Fishing Club's fish sizes have been updated. Please note the following changes.

  • Dolphin Fish minimum legal length of 60cm. Additionally only one fish may measure over 110cm.
  • Blue Groper minimum legal length from 25cm to 30cm.
  • Luderick (blackfish) minimum legal length from 25cm to 27cm.
  • Morwong all minimum legal length from 28cm to 30cm.
  • Pearl Perch minimum legal length 30cm.
  • Trevally minimum legal length 30cm.
  • Yellowtail Kingfish minimum legal length from 60cm to 65cm.

Bag limit changes:
Oatley RSL Fishing club only allows 5 of each species to be weighed but please note these changes:

  • A new combined bag limit of 20 bream and tarwine.
  • A new bag limit reduction from 20 to 10 will now apply to bonito, dolphin fish, rubberlip and jackass morwong.
  • A bag limit reduction from 2 to 1 will now apply to highly prized billfish species, including sailfish and swordfish.
